i think the design of the new creative mp3 players is inferior to that of ipod nano. i went to ps's creative shop and took a look and tried it out. nothing surprising, nothing attractive, nothing appealing. if i were to use 2 words to describe it, creative zen v is fat and short, yet ipod nano is slim and tall. lolzz!
"small is the new beautiful" but fat is not! 15.9mm thick. i seriously wonder what the designers are doing. i know i am a critic but i believe the sales would not be satisfying. furthermore, there is poor marking strategy, should be "slim is the new beautiful". but the mp3 players do not have such a feature. i really fear for creative because they lost millions of dollars on mp3 players, after they purchased flask disks (i forgot which component) which became outdated and devalued. Manufacturers are able to produce them at a much lower cost. Well, this is how fast technology changes, just like how the price of thumb drive plummeted. And i want to question the long term views of the sales executives. Did they not expect the price to fall?
on the other hand, apple is able to reap economies of scale (econs econs!!) due to its large market in USA. and currently, these 2 companies are suing each other over some patents (started by creative). and apple wants to stop the imports of creative's mp3 players into USA ( i wonder if i am outdated). the next day, creative's share prices dropped sharply and i believe they are facing a crisis now.
in the handphone market, samsung unveiled the world's slimmest phone at only 6.9mm (click on pic for article) with amazing, powerful features. i think nokia is losing out in the handphone industry with emerging strong companies like Samsung and Motorola. (its clamshell phone is so ubiquitous now) i was once a nokia fan and used a nokia 7210 and i loved it, then i switched to panasonic X500 to panasonic VS2. The features and user-friendiness and interface and memory improved tremendously. Personally, i prefer slider phone. =)
freak lah... wasted so much of my time typing this stupid thingy which sounded like serious and real ... wth! anyway.. i was just laming around... i am not going to be liable and responsible for the above views. these views do not hold!
