Watch out for "Missed Call" scam
http://talkback.stomp.com.sg/forums/showthread.php?t=4012
"If you see a "Missed Call" on your mobile phone from a China number +86 XXXX XXXX XXX, do not return the call unless you know the caller. The danger is that since some of us do have contacts in China, we may try to return the call. The "Missed Call" scam is very basic -- on returning the call, the call is redirected to a premium rate telephone service. These charge very high rates. E.g. in Australia, calls were routed to a service charging A$2.97/min for returned calls. The caller is then told that he has won a prize and also has a chance of winning a higher price by calling a second number. If the caller does fall for this, he will call the second number, which is charged at a premium rate too. In the end, the victim ends up paying a large sum of money for the calls, but no prize as it is a scam.Checks with Singtel, Starhub and M1 showed that their customers had alerted them of the scam, but the 3 mobile service providers only advised customers to ignore these calls.Do not return calls to +86 XXXX XXXX XXX UNLESS you recognise the number. If someone is genuinely trying to get you, they will call again."
